Agencies, good or bad for the workforce?
Well there are more than one million people are employed via agencies, which means they do not get benefits such as sick pay. Do you think that’s fair? I don’t and it seems something may be done about it yet. Backbenchers rallied enough support to get a second reading for a private member's bill that will hopefully give temporary staff the same right as permanent staff. What does this mean for businesses? Well unfortunately businesses will have to fork out money to people who choose to fake sickness and not turn up to work, but if you actually are sick at least you won’t be going into work infecting the entire place and giving a lower productive efficiency level then you would normally. Let’s just hope we don’t get this passed and then everyone that usually would go in with a cold doesn’t call in sick, because they now get paid!
